Hello all,
I am looking to move to San Antonio within the next few months. What I'm curious about, amongst other things, is how much the deposit fees are for setting up electricity, gas, cable, and phone. Any idea of how much I should anticipate spending in these things?

Thanks!

if you already have utilities, water, electricity, or cable in your name, the utilities here will take those histories as a credit and you will not have to pay a deposit. just bring proof of service from those utilities.
If no history, I don't know. i would call each utility and make sure you get the answer that pertains to you.

I don't know what others have run into, but I came from Germany and the only deposit I had to pay was $150 on the electric, and I think they said if i pay my bill on time for six months I will get the deposit back. I paid no deposit on AT&T for phone and none on TWC for cable/internet. There are specials all the time on phone and cable/internet. I even received a $100 prepaid Visa card from AT&T just for getting a landline!

I'm new to San Antonio from Canada...

No deposit on electricity (CPS) or phone/internet/cable (Time-Warner).

Thank you for your replies, everyone.

Another question: Does anybody know how much time warner cable charges for equipment installation?

I have never lived outside of my parent's house, and the prospect of living on my own in several months is exhilerating, exciting, and amazingly overwhelming. That being said, I do not have any kind of history with electricity, water, gas, or cable companies. Does that mean that I will owe thses companies a small fortune to start my services?
