My husband just got the first speeding ticket of his life. It was issued by a Bexar County Constable. When I got my one and only ticket (knocking on wood!) ~10 years ago, I did probation and it was no problem at all. I'm not seeing that option for him. On the back of the ticket, it says he can do defensive driving. Am I missing something, or have they changed deferred adjudication?

He, of course, doesn't want this to go on his record. So if he can't do deferred adjudication I guess he'll do defensive driving. Any recs on the most painless way to go about that? tia!

Probation is still offered. My wife got a ticket in March or April and when she went to court they didnt ask her anything, they just gave her 90days.

Interestingly, 8 years ago I got a ticket and when I went to court all they offered me was the option to pay or go to defensive driving. I asked if probation was an option and they said yes and gave me 30 days.

I dont know how or if it matters that the ticket came from a Constable. In both of my cases the tickets were from SAPD.

Thanks for your response. He's debating between dd or probation. On the Bexar Country website for probation , it says you HAVE to go to court ON the day you were assigned.

Deferred Adjudication

Well, he will be working oot that day and will have to go before. So maybe defensive driving is his best bet?

With the ticket I got a few years back, I went to court early to request deferred adjudication. The judge said I had to take a defensive driving course, which I did online for a nominal fee, and if I recall correctly I was on probation for six months.

It is a really easy thing to take care of, and he can also mail it in unless for some reason the offense requires him to appear.

However, that said I would still call the court if you have any questions or are unsure of anything. You can get a lot of good advice from these forums, but in these matters it is better to talk directly to an official source of information!

Cheers! M2

That is sage advice, and I can attest to that.

I used to get tickets and did the probation thing. I heard all different things from people until I went in and talked to somebody who gave me the skinny.

Then I figured out how to use the "cloak" feature on my hot rod and am now ticket-free.

ohhh, heres a method that could work, when/ if you send the fine. send 3 dollars more, and they'll issue a refund, just dont cash it. and the incident wont show up on your record, I havent done it. but I've heard from co workers that it works.

Last time I had a speeding ticket it was 90 days unsupervised probation. Stay out of trouble and it all dropped off.

Unless it has changed, you can still get another ticket. It just can't be a ticket for the same offense.
