But would a satellite just disappear completely? It seemed to be moving horizontally not further away.

I work security out at sea world, and did not hear anyone out there saying that they noticed anything and I work evenings. I would lean toward the RC plane explanation.

I read somewhere, on one of the govt agency sites I think, that they were going to start using drones (those remote controlled things with cameras) in the southern border states to help keep an eye on things. Maybe they were practicing?

Drones don't move and do the acrobatic maneuvers those lights were doing . . . RC planes do though. I think that is the most likely culprit. Unless, of course, my people from planet X have finally come to take me home.

I'm pretty sure I saw the International Space Station do just that one night. I don't know the specifics on how it "vanishes" while streaking across the sky. Maybe high altitude clouds that we can see directly at night? Just guessing...

Now if the light you saw suddenly changed directions or stopped cold, then it's not the ISS.

My husband and I have seen the ISS pass over several times - it never looked like that.

I never knew that SA had an "Area 151." Interesting.
