My enlistment will end in few months , and I am moving to San Antonio (my wife loves San Antonio). I am Active Navy for the past 12 years, and most of then I have spended overseas.

So, how difficult is to find a job for a person that has a major in Management Studies with a minor in Accounting.

Also, I am going to joy the National Guard.

Thanks,

Hello,

Doesn't the Navy have a "transitions" officer to help you? How about the National Gaurd?

I think that it might be a very good idea to contact the National Gaurd now, before you transition OUT of the Navy, to see what they advise. Good luck!!

Ge

I think with your education and military experience, you'll do well. Do you have a TS/SCI clearance? If so, there are many defense contractors in the San Antonio area -- SAIC, Karta Technologies, dNovus, to name a few. Even without the security clearance, you'll be fine. There some old standbys like USAA, but I think you'll find San Antonio to be a growing, vibrant economy. To get a sense of the business climate, check out the San Antonio Business Journal online and look at the websites of the San Antonio Economic Development Foundation and SATAI [San Antonio Technology Accelerator Initiative]. Best of luck to you!

Don't forget to check out USAJOBS.OPM.GOV

If you are interested in working civil service, that would allow the 12 years you spent in the Navy to count towards your civil service comp date since you did not retire.

Thanks for your service to the country and welcome to SA!

If you do have a TS/SCI and at least a general knowledge of computers, PM me, my company is hiring a LOT of people right now for a project going on at what used to be AIA. You need the clearance to get in to the building though..
linguists and analysts are also highly encouraged to apply. they have a skill set that's a good match for the job.

Hi,

USAA is one of the top ranked companies in the country.

They actively recruit former military and and are very considerate of what the military has to go through.

I LOVE the company. They have made my life so much easier. When I return from Baghdad I plan on applying.

Here is the website:

Good Luck!

sorry I took so long to reply to the PM's from people, but I finally did. Problem is this site is normally blocked on the DoD net, but the filter appears to be down at the moment...
if anyone else is interested and has that type of clearance, feel free to PM me.
