We were w/USAA for 20+ years. Over time, we felt we were getting less service and paying higher fees. We checked around, and got better prices with more coverage from Germania. Been with them 4 years now. Had one claim, couldn't have asked for better handling, and we don't regret it!

Allstate beat USAA pretty well for equivalent coverage on my place and cars.

Don't forget that not everyone can get USAA.

I love progressive for car insurance. I can't help with the combination offer though.

Well, bear in mind we CAN get it - but don't WANT it!

Priced Progressive - Germania smoked 'em. It's funny, though - some folks will get killer rates w/some companies that we tried and got high prices from, so you never know it seems!!

State Farm has been GREAT for Us. I'll be 50 at the end of the month and my first policy with them was when I was 16. It was for a motorcycle. My Parents paid my Car Insurance but not the motorcycle since that was something I really didn't need.

State Farm has been GREAT for Us for Homeowner's Coverage. In that past 25+ / - years we have had to file one claim (Homeowner's)

My experience has been that Farmers Insurance comes in at lower rates than State Farm and Allstate, with equal to better coverage. It can depend though on your credit score, past claim history, etc.

Just remember that service, especially claims service, is a big part of the equation. Oftentimes in the insurance biz, you get what you pay for. I know. I'm in it.

A friend decided to get Fred Loya and canceled after 6 months, they did not want to pay a claim and they had so many problems with them.
