Anyone know where I can get my foreign degree translated?

I supposed it has to be some kind of certified translation service or maybe done by the government?

It's a Mexican degree, by the way, in Computer Engineering.

If this is for an academic institution, you have to check with its HR department/student services to see if they have any specific requirements; but for basic translations, this Portland Community College web site has several listed:

HR: Foreign Degree Transcripts | PCC

Otherwise, there are various companies online that offer the service of translating foreign transcripts...a quick Google search found this one (I have no experience with it, I am simply listing it as an example).

Cheers! M2

Most Computer Engineering jobs I see are much more concerned about your certifications which tend to be internationally recognized over any degree. Also any ISD in this area should have very little problem having that translated in house.

You might check with the job. some places require translation from only their approved sources. My husband had to have his translated and was given specific info on whom could do an approved translation (though I think this was for federal purposes).

Any service listed here should lead to acceptance. NACES is basically the place that accreditation body for companies that are allowed to translate forien educational documents: NACES® - The Standard of Excellence for Credential Evaluation Services
I know this because I am an Air Force recruiter and the Military will take any foreign education certified by a NACES company. If the federal government will take it, I would think an ISD would take it.

This exactly what one person in HR told me but I forgot to ask for an address and company name.

So I called back and someone else at HR told me that I wouldn't need a translation...

Still, I found someone through a relative, he knows people at the court house or something to that effect who does official translations for the court. I'm going to try with him first and see how it goes.

@dmarie123
WOW! that is certainly going to be useful in the future.

I also stumbled upon FCSA in Austin but don't know if it has a good reputation. Heck it might even be the agency that some ISDs want people to use. However I don't think they translate, just evaluate.

@RoamingWolves
So much truth here. However my brother will also need this as he is a recent grad in Mechatronics Engineering with a foreign degree. I don't think there are many certifications in that field. (hmm well maybe some kind of electrcian license or PLC certification now that I think about it...)

Anyway thanks everyone!

The ones I listed will translate and evaluate. Be careful not to use just a language translation service. They can translate the names of the classes, but can't certify the classes. That means we might know that you took a "mechanical engineering class" but we don't know if it was 100level, 700level, or high school level. Just doing a language translation might not be enough... some employeers want to know if they are accredited. Kinda like the difference in going to a non-accredited US University like "career point" and going to Harvard. Yes- we now know what the classes were called in English, but what do the equate to in terms of our educational system. My links will do both!

However, my list is surely not all inclusive.
