I'm not a native of Texas, so foundation care is news to me. I was wondering, if one has some (hopefully minor) foundation issues such as the soil has small gaps away from the foundation, what to do?

* Soaker hose water it periodically until the gap closes?
* fill the gap with something?
* call someone to get it checked and/or fixed?
* some other solution?

The summer is usually the time for a soaker hose around the foundation. However, we have had no rain in 2 months, so go ahead and do the soaker hose. don't try to fill it in, it won't work.
When we get rain we will get about 3 months worth in 1 or 2 days. In the future, if you see the seperation starting and we have not had rain in a while put out the soaker hose again.

ShaneSA: Can you leave the soaker hose out year round or will the winter freezes damage the hose?

I leave them out. I do disconnect the hose from the water source. If it freezes the hose probably will not get damaged.
