I received a flyer in the mail today for this group. They do tree trimming, thinning, removal and hauling, and give free estimates. The information states "Over 30 years ago, the H.O.W. Foundation was established to create an environment where those recovering from alcohol or drug addiction could become self-supporting, productive members of society."

If you have used this group, please let me/us on C-D know how it worked out for you. I have an old oak tree needing some large branches removed from over the roof of my house. The flyer states "Licensed & Insured".

Thanks alot.

They have a website H.O.W. Foundation Home Page and they have some letters posted on the website from satisfied customers if that helps.

By your description, I think your job needs to be done by a professional. And make sure they seal the wounds/cuts and properly dispose/save the trimmings.

I've never used 'em personally, but those that I know that did were pleased, and felt they got excellent value for their money.

RGJ- Thanks for reminding Folks about spraying the wounds on Oaks or any trees for that matter. I have seen MANY Homeowners and several Tree Trimming Services (which are mainly Fly by Night) who don't spray. I really don't fault some of the Homeowners since many aren't from here so they don't know. When we lived in Westcreek I reminded the HOA to many times to count that they needed to get the word out to Homeowner's since that area is full of nice Oaks.

Always make sure that the Tree Trimming Companies you use a Licensed / Certified by the City of San Antonio. Even if you live in Bexar County this still applies as does the City of San Antonio Tree Ordinance (5 miles outside City Limits)

We utilized them Summer 2010 and would use them again. Their arborist reviewed with us on a walk thru of what we needed cut/removed, which was partially over our house roof. All workers were very professional, wore the proper safety equipment, cleaned up all the debris and got the job done in the time agreed without any damage to our property.

I've used them 4 times over the last 6-7 years, very happy with their services. They've always done a good job. Plus 1/2 of their fees are tax deductible for charitable contribution.

"Preferred vendor". Where? Just curious.

I never used your company but I had bad luck once with a tree trimming service. Now I just pay a bit more for someone that is an actual arborist.
