Yeah, I dealt with idiots driving at unsafe highway speeds (35mph) on 35/281 this morning as well. What in the world do people think? If you drive slower, in the passing lane, that you'll end up safer somehow in the long run? It was just ridiculous.

As for the cold: Bundle up and deal with it. Folks across the country still trudge to work in 6 inches of snow, so why can't a child find his way to school just because it's cold and windy (no snow, no rain, no hail). Suck it up and sally forth... And have some additional appreciation for those in parts of the country where this is the norm.

Ummm, didn't they just report a major outbreak of the flu in SA? Perhaps, most of the kids are actually sick.

really sapp, what an insult to myself and all the other exhausted parents out there to automatically and constantly jump on the "lazy parent" bandwagon. Most of the parents I know live for school days just so they can have a mini break from the kiddos. We're not keeping them home --- and stuck in the house driving us crazy all day long -- just because it's cold outside.

Right on! Great post!

On the opposite end, it's like when those northern tourists come to SA during the summer in 98 degree heat and can BARELY take it or when I watch the national news on TV and their news stories regarding the "heatwaves" of higher 90 temps going on in New York. That's not a "heatwave" in SA yet it is for them. We can tolerate that heat in SA because we are used to it, they are not. On the other hand, we aren't acclimated to very cold temps here in SA.

So for any of y'all who are used to very cold weather and are not from here, be nice and remember this is San Antonio, not Chicago.

Ummmmmm, where did I say the kid shouldn't stay home when sick? We are talking about keeping kids home when it is cold. Which, if that is the case, it is most likely that Mama doesn't want to crawl out of her Snuggie and make the drive to school. Touched a nerve or what?

To add to your question - why in the HELL were people driving 30 mph on 1604 this morning???
There's no ice!

Hellooooo..... the lights are on but nobody's home.....
Peeved me too, but it turned out to be several accidents, hence the delay.

ummmmm, when did I say that? I was pointing out that maybe the kids were actually sick and that is why there are so many absences this week.

You run the risk of moving into Merovee's World of the Misinformed if you are going to say mamas are "most likely" sitting on the couch with a snuggie and are "too lazy" to send their kids to school. Let me know when you enter motherhood and then understand what we actually deal with on a daily basis...I love any opportunity to say "I told you so."

I have 2 children. You can rest assured that my youngest was dropped off at 6:10 this morning for basketball practice.
