We moved to Fort Worth 3 year ago and I had allergies twice a year. We moved to Royse City between Rockwall and Greenville 2 years ago and the allergies are KILLING me. I take shots and rx and still cant function. We are maybe looking into San Antonio but cant find any comparisons between the two to see if the later would be better.....can anyone help...thanks

San Antonio is not a low allergy area. People who have never had allergies move there and get slammed. The cedar blows down from the hill country around Christmas and it's not a matter of if you are allergic just how sick you are going to get. That said, I ran a random Royse City zip code compared to where I lived in SA (northside close to the hill country) and it was a toss up. It just ran rates for a few days. It may have been skewed by remaining cedar pollen as the first 2 days were quite a bit worse in SA but the second 2 were almost even one day and slightly higher in Royce City the next. I was surprised because I would have thought the allergans were LESS in the Dallas area.

I had horrible allergies as a child in San Antonio and they improved substantially when we moved to San Angelo. When I moved back as an adult they were controlled with allergy meds as needed rather then all the time. Since we moved to Raleigh NC I'm much worse then in San Antonio so I'm looking forward to coming home next week. Hopefully someone with experience in Dallas and SA can give you firsthand knowledge!

A couple of years ago, a professional allergy organization ranked Austin and San Antonio the #1 and #2 worst places in the country for allergies. If you suffer from serious allergy symptoms and live here, it's best to work with an allergy specialist. Mine put me on shots for a few years and it really helped ease my symptoms and reduce the number of sinus infections I had each year.

When it is mountain cedar season (is it ever not?), I wish I was the bubble boy.

I have no scientific data, but I lived in Dallas for 3 years and no allergies. Lived in the woods of New Hampshire for 2 years and no allergies. Lived in "rural" Kansas for 2 years and no allergies. Lived in San Antonio for 1 year and had two bad allergy seasons already.
