Hi All:

I am looking for referral of mechanics that make "house calls". Otherwise, a reliable, experience, and dependable mobile mechanic. I have a F-150 XLT and it is making a loud whining noise when I accelerate over 3 RPM and when I initially start the vehicle. When it is coasting however, there is no noise. Please make any reliable referrals.

Thank you.

Honestly, in my experience there is only a limited amount of repairs a mobile mechanic can make; such as tune-ups, oil changes, or replacing brake pads. Basically almost the same as any competent home mechanic.

You'd be better off taking it to a garage where they have the equipment to accurately diagnose and repair your truck. If you are worried about driving it (and it doesn't appear to be dangerous based on your description), then you can always have it towed to a shop.

There are several threads with recommendations for garages, my favorite is MD Automotive on 1560 just outside of 1604 off of Culebra. They also have a towing service if you need it; but unless you are on the NW or west side of town, that may be a bit too far for you to go. I am sure if you let us know where you're located, folks will be able to suggest good shops.

Cheers! M2

I haven't had to call him in awhile, but we've used Nathan a number of times! His number is 210-885-2060 or 210-885-2524. If you have any questions, you can email me at michelefacini@aol.com

Make sure your pulleys are in working order and if you ever need your check engine checked out just drive down to Autozone and they will hook up the computer to it and pull out any codes that are stored in your vehicle. Be careful about which shop you take it to ,some are not to honest, just go on youtube and see for yourself. As a matter of fact ,I quit one of these shops because I couldnt stand their practices .Now I do this on my own and make sure I keep my customers happy.

What you said is not accurate ,I'm a Mobile Mechanic and I do alot more than any competent home Mechanic. I recently repalced a Torque converter on a Ford Windstar, Timing belt on a Ford Focus in 40 minutes. I've rewired entire vehicles and replaced complete A.C Systems. R&R on transmissions, motors, so ummm no I dont think swapping out pads and rotors and belts are the same. I'm not dissing you just informing that the home mechanic and mobile mechanic are not the same thing. Much Respect, have a good one

Disconnect the negative side of the battery for 10 minutes and reconnect,...see if that resolves the problem,...

if it was anything like the last car with an alarm i had an issue with, you have to disconnect the alarm module.

i had the same issue in a car i sold that the FOB broke and was unable to stop the alarm. disconnect the battery will stop the alarm for now, but once you hook it back up the alarm comes back on (failsafe).

you have to disconnect the actual alarm module. car should start then. my toyota sure did.
