Hi

I am looking for feedback on the Cadillac Lofts from residents or neighbors. I am sick of living in Generica (aka suburban hell.) I am searching for a place that lets me walk to bars, museums and coffee shops, but is also safe and clean.

The rent at the Lofts seem very low for something advertised as 'urban living'; but as a transplanted northerner all the rents in SA seem very low to me.

Are the utilities expensive in comparison to other SA apartments? I was surprised the site listed a pool as an amenity - does it get used? Do all units have a fireplace, or just a 'selected few'?

The feedback on the ratings site was pretty negative, but those sites generally are.

Thank you for any feedback .

Cadillac Lofts are small... Even the largest units are tiny and due to there being no real walls (all temporary) and concrete floors, the sound bounce issue is huge. It's not luxe living by any means.

I'd advise looking into Blue Star Arts Complex, St Benedicts Lofts or the new complex that went up near Hemisphere (Hemisview, I think it's called).

Good luck!

You're so awesome with your real estate knowledge, BN, it's always nice to hear from you. I'm a big real estate fan, particularly since I moved to San Antonio.

I agree with BN, look at the Southtown area. I live at Judson and love it.

*tips hat* Thanks ya'll. I just love the downtown/Southtown living vibe and try to be as informed as possible on the options.

Judson Candy Factory and Steelhouse are both good options too. I still salivate over some of the lofts at Camp Street... Incredible building. And FYI, Camp is fully loaded right now in terms of rentals. They do have a couple of units for sale. Starting price around $280k.

How is it an incredible building? Isn't the bilevel penthouse priced at around $5 million or so?

BN/Dread:

Thank you for the info. I am going to look at the other sites you both mentioned.

Budget, hmmm... good question... I guess less than 2K per month, maybe a bit more to own, although as a newbie to SA I don't think I am ready for that step yet.

I live in a perfectly bland 'luxe' garden place in North Ctl. I value it being quiet, clean, and safe. My idea of quiet may be a bit different that others since I used to live in a loft in a renovated steel mill, right on the edge of a city's college bar district (a long way of saying I don't even notice the planes landing at SAT right down the street).

Thank you for suggestions.

...sending good karma!

K

I had friends that lived at the Cadillac. I thought they were kitch, modern, semi urban...however the ambulances and especially helicopters overhead at the Baptist hospital are more painful than the guy that lives at the park constantly asking you for change. The hospital transport is non stop 24/7.

Which city was it, if I may politely ask? I love college bars!
