The restaurant next to the Longhorn Steak House is not peter pipers (that's further up towards 151) but a new one out of St Louis called the 54th street Bar and Grill : http://www.birnbaumproperty.com/pdfs...%20Culebra.pdf. One of two in San Antonio and it's first expansion out of the St Louis area.

No doubt about that. These places never have customers and every once in a while a new one pops up. It funny people have been joking for years its just a front for laundering drug money, but I really wonder if this is not the case. Inquiring minds want to know.......

My husband goes to Fred's Fish Fry because of nostalgia. He says he grew up eating Fred's and it reminds him of his childhood when payday would arrive, dad would buy the family meal. He now goes with his guy friends to get a meal there.
For me, I think the food isn't good and I never grew up eating Fred's even though we grew up in the same 'hood (we didn't know each other growing up).

That's pretty much all of SA, and TX for that matter. Urban sprawl, cookie cutter houses, and the same chain restaurants. Not many mom n pop places around here.

That's not really true. There are plenty of independent restaurants (and neighborhoods with great architecture) in SA. But you won't find it outside 410.

There are good restaurants outside of 410 - Pasha's for example and other middle eastern ones. I grant you that the chains predominant in new shopping malls.

San Antonio: A small town that repeats itself over and over and over again, thus becoming a big city. ;-)
