My wife has jury duty this week. She went today with what she thought was allergies. She became increasingly ill throughout the day with what I believe is a very bad cold or flu. Naturally she got picked to be on a jury that may last all week. She is running 101 fever. I went on the Bexar county Jury Duty website but, of course, I can't fine anything that covers this situation. Has anyone run into this before? If so, what did you do. My wife and I both take jury duty seriously, but seriously, does anybody want her down there in the shape she is in. I doubt it. I know they probably picked alternates but who do you call. I think I know why they don't prominently display a " Call this number to call in sick for jury duty".

Well, I guess she will just have to call the bailiff in the morning. I have that number but I doubt that anyone will answer that phone. I don't think county phones have ringer in them. Thanks everybody but I guess we will just have to play it by ear on this one.

This is the suggested proper way posted on their web page:

If a situation arises after you have submitted your completed juror qualification questionnaire, you may fax your request to (210) 472-6581 or mail your request to:

Clerk, United States District Court
Attention: Jury Clerk
655 E. Durango Blvd.
San Antonio, Texas 78206

OR

you may also submit your excuse request on-line at: http://jury.txw.uscourts.gov.

This info is for FEDERAL court...entirely different from COUNTY, which is where OP's wife is to serve.

Update: She finally told me this morning that she didn't have to be there until 1:30. She got up got dressed and made into court on time at 1:30. By 2:00 pm she was calling me to say they had sent everyone home and told them to come back at 1:30 tomorrow. Someone involved with the case didn't show up. This may drag on until next week. Geez! Correct Ms. Q. This is COUNTY court not federal court. My wife seems to be feeling a little better today but I would have preferred that she stay home and rest rather than go running all over town on some wild goose chase. She always gets picked for juries and would rather not be picked. I have always wanted to serve on a jury and have never ever been picked. They just don't like my kind I guess. I can spot a line of bull from a mile away and they know it.
