Considering all the positives I have seen and the reccomendations to visit and your response...I say stay in RI. Your not going to like anything in SA or anywhere else in the world. Your being totally closed minded and not even trying. You will fail if you try to move anywhere.

You don't like heat, and you're thinking of moving to San Antonio???? Bwahahaha! It's "hotter than Hades" there! Had 58 days over 100 degrees one summer while we were there. That's unusual, but it's still wayyyyy hot and a looooong summer (think 5 months). Humidity can be rough (although some of the homers will deny it). It's humid in the morning and increases again in the evenings.

Central time FTW. You definitely can't beat that if you have Extra Innings and are a Red Sox fan. I sent you DM.

I think a visit to SA is the best thing you can do. Then you can decide for yourself. July is the perfect time, too.

I can tell you that San Antonio shares almost nothing with R.I. -- cuisine, weather, tax rates, housing prices, etc. and it will be a huge change. But clearly something about the city has attracted your husband, and maybe that's where your conversations have to go to see how best to think about this.

My wife and I moved from Mass..., my wife is originally from Connecticut. We uprooted ourselves from my wifes family and we love it down here. Unfortunately we may not stay long term, due to my career in the Fed Govt. but it's great.

One of the major downsides though is the trash, its everywhere. People here have no respect for the environment, the landscape, or their surroundings. Diapers are thrown out windows on the highway, etc. etc.

The taxes are great though!

Visiting and living in San Antonio are very different. A lot of folks love visiting here to get away from the big city life (even from Dallas and Houston) but I would stay in RI if I were you. RI is much more beautiful than San Antonio and you will find a lot of the areas of SA dirty and run-down looking.
