I'm trying to help some folks cool off in this heat. Does anyone know if there are organizations out there that give away fans or perhaps even window air conditioners?

I know it may be something you have considered but just throwing it out there...call 211. They should have contact info for Project Cool and all the other organizations that can assist.

It's Family Service Association right there on San Pedro and Cypress. I was inside their office a couple of years ago. It's hidden...it's on the side of the building so it's kind of hard to find.

You can drop 20-inch box fans off at any fire station for distribution to the elderly and others in need.

In case anyone needs the info: 2805 E. Commerce, it's a City of SA building, large enough but a bit hidden.
