I just noticed that The Rim site plan lists Urban Outfitters as a tenant, yet they are on a rendering at La Cantera. Will there be an UO at both?

The "skuttlebutt" within the La Cantera "community" (employees at all the stores ) is the UO will be at Phase 2. A lot of folks wanna work for them when they open. (You'd be amazed at what a "network" it is within higher end retail folks!)

Never trust rendering or rumor when it comes to retail leasing. Developers will never release potential retailers in a project that is under development, only those that have signed a lease. Until then all of this is speculation unless you have other proof.

For example, Urban Outfitters is looking for management positions for a San Antonio location with an opening in the Fall of 2008, location not disclosed. However an educated guess would put that store location at the Shops at La Cantera, not the Village at the Rim, which is not scheduled to open until Fall 2009. However, since GGP has not released the names of retailers for the new phase of Shops at La Cantera this store location could be opening at North Star or one of The Quarry properties. It is all a guessing game until the official announcement is made, probably about 100 days before opening.

So if you are expecting Versace, Gucci, Dolce & Gabbana or any of the other retailers people are speculating about, don't be surprised if they are not actually in the project.

Unless you are a hip, urban (and as the chain grows, an in the know suburbanite) teenager or college student with disposable income or if you are in your late 20's/early 30's you won't get it. When I was in the target market it was the place to shop for clothes, household and novelty items.

Retail concepts are not geared to the masses so if this one is not for you there is probably something out there that suits you better . You probably already shop there and think it is the end all and be all.

If they are opening Fall 2008 you can bet it will be La Cantera. I'm curious if there are/were plans to have a location at both. Does Urban Outfitters offer different store formats?

USAA said they would release a list of tenants back in May. The S@LC tenants were revealed about 3 months prior to opening. Other than the collapse at the construction site earlier in the year have there been many setbacks? Is phase II still on track to open in October?

Went to an Urban Outfitters also, and was not impressed either. Oh, and I am in my late 20's with disposable cash. I thought it was kinda a lame effort at trying to bring in some of the things you really need to drive to Houston, or fly to other cities in order to purchase.

I was there on the Friday after Thanksgiving and only about 1/2 of the stores in that phase were open. The big Barnes and Noble had a sign saying it won't open until after the first of the year.

I like the look of that new section. It feels more like an authentic street scene than the other parts of the center.
