My girlfriend is currently interning with the Alamo Bowl, and I'm coming down from Chicago to visit her this weekend. I want to take her on an evening picnic that concludes with a pretty sunset and a bottle of wine. Where would this be best accomplished? I'm totally open to other ideas of the same ilk as well. Thank you in advance!

I actually did that on one of the first dates with my (now) wife. We headed out towards Fredericksburg, and simply pulled into one of the picnic areas up by LBJ Park on 290 east of Fredericksburg. I'd prepared a simple basket of cheeses, wine and crackers, spread out a blanket and we just had a nice, relaxing afternoon snack polished off with some sliced apples. She still talks about that to this day.

Go the the Pearl and walk down to the Museum Reach of the Riverwalk. There is a terrace perfect for a picnic if a show is not going on.

There is also Denman Park. Lake, gazebo, mansion, quiet.

I think Denman Park will be perfect. She lives on the Northeast side of the city, so that will be a short drive. I'm really excited to do this. She's going to love it. Now on to keeping it a secret and figuring out what to pack! Thanks everyone for your help.
