kitty has developed what i believe to be a rodent ulcer on his nose. not in pain, has not spread to other kitties (not sure if it can be honestly). research online shows he will need A long acting cortisone injection to stave off future infections.

kitty is up to date on his shots (rabies needs a booster though), is negative for feline leukemia, etc etc. perfectly healthy, eats and plays though he did wince slightly when i put some neosporin on it for the pain.

preferably looking for a reputable vet near central / downtown who's not terribly expensive and actually cares about their customers pets.

willing to drive for the right vet!

after some extensive googling, i have decided to take my kitty to the Northwood Animal Hospital. from what im hearing, this guy is just as good as dr mcgeehee (fairly popular and awesome vet in sa). found virtually no complaints about them online (good thing, seeing as just about every vet has some type of negative posting about them), the receptionist is extremely friendly and knowledgable (agreed with me that since my other kitties havent gotten the sore my kitty has, its probably not contagious).

the only downside is they arent open today for normal vet issues. today is a 'pick up / drop off meds' day and the dr doesnt work today. receptionist said the most important thing is that he is eating (he is. woke me up for his breakfast) and drinking. if he is, it can wait til tomorrow.

*crosses fingers*

hope i dont get a huge vet bill before christmas, as ive been working a lot of extra hours for extra holiday spending cash!

I use China Grove Vet Clinic. They're out in China Grove but well worth the drive! Great vet and staff.

I've been going to Helotes Park Animal Hospital for ten years. Dr. Masters is wonderful and loves kitties and dogs. He has nursed my 17 and a half year old Simon through heart problems, a stroke, and now, old age. I can't recommend Dr. Masters enough - he's just wonderful.

VERY AFFORDABLE and extremely professional. my kitty had some nose issues which they cleared up. when i went to pick him up the first time, Dr Wood wanted to keep him overnight just so he could observe him in the morning at no extra cost. they even gave him a second round of anti-biotics at no extra cost the next morning.

got to pick up my orange furball and hes more alert albeit still lethargic.

2 BIG MASSIVE thumbs up for Dr Wood and his practice. he has my business from this point on for both my kitties!

mcgehee was my second choice if northwood didnt check out. fortunately, northwood is a great place. i mean no disrespect to mcgehee, but Dr Wood is closer and i want to be able to take my kitties somewhere close should the need arrise.

I use them both, Alamo Feline and Northwood, depending on the reason and my budget. But I am most definitely a regular at Alamo Feline and love Dr. Norsworthy.
