HEB has some good salsas, IMO. They have a bunch of varieties like tomato garlic and smokey citrus. I usually make my own fresh salsa and I often keep a bottle of Pace on hand for people who like mild stuff. But if I'm in a pinch and I don't have time to make salsa I'll buy the one of the HEB ones.

Is that the same as Chili Garlic Sauce (the one with the rooster on the front of the bottle with the green lid?),...that's the greatest when mixed with two cans of Rotel,...I'm salivating already

OK... the name is Clint's salsa and I get it at HEB. It comes as mild, medium and hot.

I really like Clint's too. And Cholula for a pepper sauce.

If it is what I think it is ..It is made from Chile Pequines that grow wild in south Texas. Those peppers are really hot! I think we have already talked about this but birds love them! I make a hot sauce out of them but it is difficult to make it too hot!!

If y'all want some really authentic stuff, pick up some freshly made salsa they make at La Michoacana. My wife brought some red sauce home the other day when she bought some meat over there for tacos (the one off of I-410 and Evers Rd) and man oh man was that stuff good!!! And VERY spicy! Not for the faint of heart at all. Reminded me of when I lived in central Mexico with a family that literally ate every single meal with very spicy, freshly made hot sauce.

You may as well just invest in a molcajete and do it yourself.

Now, finding a quality one in town, that's a different story.....

We have a molcajete that has been in the family for over 30 years!!! Hell yeah, and glad to have it. I wouldn't know where to find a decent one now if I had to look.

The HEB brand salsas that come in a resealable bag (in the refrigerated section by the cut-up fruit) are really good. It is thin, restaurant style. Garlicky. Yum.

My brother said that Jacala now makes a salsa, and apparently it is popular because he has trouble getting a bottle before they sell out at the HEB near his house (281 & Evans).
He asked me to check my HEB whenever I can, but I haven't seen it yet.
