I recall the rumors that La Cantera Phase II would be getting an AMC theater. At the time this made no sense to me since AMC was nearby at Huebner. Now that AMC is gone from that area is there any new plans to build at the shops of La Cantera again?

You would think AMC would want to increase their SA presence again. Santikos is across the highway but it would seem as much movie goers we have here in SA we could support another theater.

Any rumors or thoughts?

Is the Palladium outdated and too small for you already?

Kidding aside, I really doubt it.

Not really...I just recalled reading about the plans for another AMC at La Cantera during their phase II expansion.

I actually live across from the RIM so the Pallidium is convenient. AMC only has one theater here in SA now and maybe they pulled out of Huebner Oaks for a better location (La Cantera)?? My thoughts

The Huebner Oaks theater isn't closed permanently. It's reducing its number of screens and reopening as a Regal Cinema. Then, the current Regal off of DeZavala will convert to a dollar theater.

Personally, I don't think parking is convenient enough at La Cantera to support a theater. The Palladium throws a huge monkey wrench into the parking at The Rim. I can't imagine it would be appealing for shoppers if that much parking usage was added to lots near the heart of La Cantera.

I am actually curious if AMC is still in the works in expanding in our market. I am really excited about the Regal theater going in at the old AMC site.

When John Santikos came back into the SA area, he came back with a vengeance. Something tells me that Phase II of La Cantera has slowed for now and as long as The Rim's Phase II continues to be tied up in bankruptcy court, AMC is holding back and watching the cards fall.

Palladium is large, but it's a zoo. I hate that theater. Would much prefer a smaller scale, upscale concept like iPic or GoldClass. I'd be more willing to trudge through Palladium if all of their seating was available online or through a smartphone app. There's no reason to queue outside a theater anymore if you can just put in place a reserved seating system (which they can).
