Hello all,

I'm new to City-Data for the first time and I'm looking to get some insight regarding moving to San Antonio, TX. I'm a single mother of 4 ages......18, 12, 9 & 2 and I'm very excited in wanting to make this transition. I've been in Tampa all my life, and having ever lived no where else, it would be helpful to welcome any suggestions, comments, and/or information you may have since I know nothing about San Antonio. First and for most since I'm a single mother in my 40's and I would like to know the best area to live at with my children that is safe, family friendly who other families have children, and the best schools which Im real BIG on academics. I'm not real big on the party life because I devote and like doing a lot of diffenent activites with my children, and as well as spending time home. I'm also looking to rent a place which I prefer a home, but any suggestions regarding apartments would be welcome. I must say this is very big for me a lil on the nervous side bit I truely feel in my heart San Antonio would be a great place for my children and I. So please if you all can shed a little light, I would greatly appreciate it. Thank you & God bless you all.

Yes, more info about yourself and family would be good. Like clarksvillemom suggested, budget, work place (or field if you dont have a job lined up yet), what you are looking for in you children's school, even interests and hobbies will help narrow down your choices.

Thank you Clarksvillemom & Elmariachi for responding . My budget I'm looking at as for as a place to rent is anywhere from $850-$1150. Again, as stated in my first post, my first choice I prefer a house and Apartments as my 2nd choice. As for a job I'm looking into trying to transfer which I'm currently working for The Salvation Army in the finance department. If for any reason I'm not able to transfer due to no openings within the company, my next line of work would be the medical field. I'm a certified medical assistant as well as a phlebotomy. I'm also looking towards going back to school to pursue nursing (LPN). I would like to know of some good nursing schools to attend in the San Antonio area. As for as my kids, I'm interested in enrolling them in public schools which has an excellent academic program (preferably an A+ rated school) and as well as a good sports program, which my 12 year old is interested in baseball and track. Who by the way always makes honor roll. As for as commuting.....for now as mention before it just depends what I will have lined up either before locating to SA or after. But to give a genral ideal, I'm right now commuting from my home to work everyday which takes anywhere to 30-45 mins if this helps. Also what are some good daycares in SA. If I happened to leave any other information out, I don't mind answering those questions. Once again thank you kindly for your help and information.
