Castle Hills to charge for 911 calls | Latest News | KENS5.com (http://www.kens5.com/latestnews/stories/KENS20090216-CASTLEHILLSEMERGENCYFEE.2281a4f3.html - broken link)

Does anyone have any thoughts on this?

I would be concerned if I lived in the area still.

I don't blame CH for trying to recover costs and discourage non-emergency use of 911 if they have too many people using 911 for non-emergency calls.

In many cases, medical insurance will cover EMS service fees, so it won't necessarily hit people directly in the wallet. San Antonio already charges fees for EMS service.

I wonder if charging the EMS fee for SA has been an effective deterrent for unecessary calls? I thought I remember reading in the Express News that SA EMS has responded to calls for aspirin.
