Greetings,

I have had a sony playstation3 for about 3 years that has seen very little use. One day recently, I decided to actually use it and none of the games would load from CD.

The unit powers on and you can move through all of the menus and I can play games loaded online, it just seems as if the CD is not communicating or working somehow.

Anyone have positive reviews on a local repair facility? Thanks!

Sounds like the Blu-Ray drive died. Do you have the fat ps3 or the slim? If you have the Fat, then it's probably best to just buy a new PS3 because it's going to get the YLOD and die eventually. If you have the slim, you could probably buy a new blu-ray drive online (ebay) for cheap and install on your own.

Its the fat PS3. 80gb model that was top of the line at the time. It probably had less than 30 hours use on it.

I also say "just replace it". It wasnt until my 40gb (upgraded the hdd to 320gb) got YLOD that I learned that the older ones are prone to it.
