RBFCU is one of the most competitive CU's in this part of the country. Outstanding APR on car and home loans, and one of the BIG things for us is that they don't sell their mortgages. We redid our mortgage twice since we got it almost 9 years ago to take advantage of the lower rates, and we're now @ 2.2% with 4 years left to go!

Any one can join the bank, it is the insurance side that is "Military Only"

USAA is by far the best bank I've ever been with. Great customer service and products. And if you've got a computer or smartphone, unless you're depositing cash or money orders, you can do all your banking online.

Most banks have that option now, that's not unique to USAA.

If you aren't military or military family and want to open an account at USAA Bank, better hurry. Effective August 23, they will restrict their services to military and eligible family members only. Existing non-military connected members will be grandfathered in.

Same here. We went from a 30 yr to a 15 to an 8 to a 5. Now have 3.5 years left. Refi fees each time were $500. (And yes, I ran the $$ to see if it made sense). They were a pleasure to work with every step of the way (and there weren't many steps)

That sounds illegal. You cant have a "private" bank, unless its a credit union or something like that.
