My house was paid off last year and now I am thinking to compare rates.
Looking for your input what insurance company is good and dependable, and don't raise the premiums too often.
I am with Allstate (multiple policies) and never had a claim.

Travelers or Central Ins. Had/have dealt with both and had no problems.

USAA or Nationwide. We are really tempted to switch to Nationwide, actually, their prices are pretty good and services are comparable to USAA.

I was a State Farm customer for 7 years with my house and 12 years for car insurance without a single claim until two years ago, but eventually switched to Texas Farm Bureau. I made one claim with State Farm on the house and they jacked up my rate on the house to an unreasonable rate. The cost of the claim was under $2,000 so I didn't think they would have done that.

I now pay less (for the same level of service) for both car and house insurance combined with Texas Farm Bureau than I did with my house insurance alone with State Farm!

State Farm does not treat their long term customers right.

HOAIC. No issues on recent claim. Have had them for 3 years after using Farmers forever. Rates were outstanding even after loosing the multiple policy/no claim discounts.

See Texas HelpInsure.com where you can get comparison sample rates and policy provisions for both auto and home insurance, along with the insurance companies financial strength and operating performance, along with its complaint index, etc.
