Dallas-based equity firm Stratford Land closed on the purchase of this 111 acre tract of land back in 2010. This is the land that was tied to the "Ronnie Cain and his brother" scandal.

I know they are touting this as a major leap forward in the effort to breathe new life into what was once a thriving retail hub in the San Antonio area.

Development plans have yet to be seen in how the acreage will be utilized, but Stratford sees the tract as a prime site for a range of uses — including retail stores, restaurants, hotels and apartments.

The parcel is located along a the IH35 freeway at Eisenhauer Road — and just down the road from one of the city’s largest and fastest growing employers: locally grown technology powerhouse Rackspace Hosting Inc.

Any local buzz in regards to progress on this project?

Windcrest is rezoneing parcels to block multifamily there as much as they can. They are also rezoneing to disallow warehouses and to allow grocery stores.
