What is the best Credit union in San antonio? I am happy with chase but, I hear credit unions are more local and cater to the community. Any info thoughts or experiences will be of most appreciated!

Thanks!

Security Service is awesome. They're open 7 days a week, long hours. 1-800 number is staffed by friendly people. Their online banking/billpay is great. We have our vehicle financed through them as well--great rates!

I love Teachers Credit Union - Firstmark Credit Union.

And Randolph Brooks appears pretty customer friendly from what I hear!

My post, below, taken verbatim from this thread: //www.city-data.com/forum/san-a...g-account.html >>

Security Service Federal Credit Union
(SSFCU) is really awesome because its branches at the malls are open "mall hours" so SSFCU there at Northstar Mall is open Monday-Saturday: 10am to 9pm; Sunday: 12pm to 6pm.

How many banks do you know that are open on a Sunday or after 8pm during the weekedays? Not too many.

Overdraft fees (if you do incur them) are one of the lowest I've seen at only $25 as well. However, I faxed them to get rid of overdraft altogether so I won't ever see an overdraft fee in my life with them.

Their money orders are only $1.00 as well. As long as you keep $100 in your checking account you won't be charged the monthly $2.00 fee.

Talking Rbfcu

I just joined RBFCU w/in the past month. They are very helpful and friendly, so far no problems. The only weird thing is that you can't make a deposit in their ATM. It's not a huge issue, but it is weird. So I have an expense check that I can't deposit until they have their business hours. I don't have a smartphone but I think you can just take a pic of your check and do that if you have one. I qualified for membership because my kids are students in NEISD schools. I didn't check any of the other credit unions, I just went w/ this because there is a new location nearby, and I had to get out of Bank of America who was charging me $25 a month for a checking account there. Hmmph!

so, you have to keep money in your account to not be charged?

i can keep 2 cents in my SACU (san antonio credit union) and not be charged a dime. the only restriction i have is i have to keep 5 bucks in my savings account at all times.

the only perk they have is late hours. however, since most of my transactions are electronic, banking hours mean nothing to me.

woodforest inside wal mart on dezavala USED to be 24 hours, but recently went back to closing at 8pm.
