Wow! Shocked (but thrilled to see) that Edison HS won the Bronze award....have a friend that taught HS there up until 2 years ago and the issues they were having (back then at least) were not something that would have made one ever expect to see them make the list...just goes to show that things CAN change!!!

Congrats to all the schools (and districts...and TAXPAYERS) involved!

I think that speaks highly of the mentality of San Antonio -- even if the adequate funding is unavailable -- excellent schools will work together and achieve such a acknowledgement!

Not to be rude but that list is a joke if Edison high school is considered one of the best in america? Where are Reagan, Alamo Heights, Churchill, Clark etc. Do they not look at SAT scores?

Try reading the very last paragraph of the article.

I hope they look at SAT scores because these kids have the best school that tax money can buy.

Would you say this has a more accurate profile of schools?

I know it does for my previous state and states

sakssa - agree.

A real assessment should be done like http://teep.tamu.edu/BestTXHS2005.pdf
granted it was done in 2005, it is a much better representation of school rankings.

If this is more accurate, then I'm shocked. S.A. Reagan is right above Brownsville Rivera by about 40 spots.

Reagan is in Stone Oak. It is in one of the richest districts in the state while Rivera is in one of the poorest.

I guess Brownsville kids are smarter than I thought.
