Probably the number one problem will be getting an interview. This is strictly due to being 50 years old. That's my experience as a job hunter and later as a hiring manager as well as the experiences of other mature folks I know. This is true no matter what US city you pick.

Steve807 ,as a hiring manager,can you answer question number 5 and question number 17 please.... and can you give us some points regarding a job interview and should we contact all the recruiting agencies or the HR departments of random companies in the food and injection molding industry.My husbands CV is impressive,lots of experience and he worked for lots of International companies in Germany,South Africa,Canada and Mexico and he is still looking good ,exercising and all

Not sure what the pay is like but I have a friend who's brother-in-law is an engineer for an auto manufacturer. They live in Laredo and he works with the maquilladoras in Nuevo Laredo. Anyone please feel free to correct me but I believe much manufacturing that may have been located in South Texas is now found in the free trade zone of the Mexican border. Not to say that there isn't any manufacturing in San Antonio, but nothing like you would (have) find in the Rust Belt.
