Where is a good place to by good security chain by the foot. I need about two feet of grade 70 -100, 1/2" or 3/4" inch chain.

On their website I couldn't find a grading which leads me to believe that it's probably pretty much generic chain of a relativly soft steel and easily cut with a Home Depot bolt cutter. Big chain is one thing. I was really looking for a combination of large and tempered to a particular hardness, and it's probably pretty expensive. That's why I only want to buy a few feet. Thanks for the response though.

McCoys may have it. Most hardware stores can also special order the chain.

Tractor Supply used to carry the good stuff. Been awhile since I've bought any there though.

Both Grainger and Northern Tool carry grade 70 chain. I think they generically call it "transport chain" or "binder chain." It's what they use to chain loads on big rig flatbeds. Whether they sell by the foot though, I don't know.
You'd have to call.

I called Grainger and the shortest they sell is 10 feet. I DID find a company called Kennedy Wire Rope & Sling Company that sells all kind of chain. They mostley supply industry so I'll bet they are not cheap but, as I said, I only need two feet of chain to secure something expensive so cost per foot is not a big issue. they have a local office that is open to the public.

What about tractor supply? Nevermind. I saw txtea beat me to that one.

McMaster Carr might be another option. We use them at my work almost daily and all of their stuff is of good quality.
