What is the current rate on cutting a limb of a tree? This is an old pecan tree, and one of the major limbs needs to be trimmed, and hauled away.
Anyone knows a dependable person who would do it for a reasonable price?

Thank you!!

Default Don't know,

Elnina I don't know how much money but I would estimate two or three hundred dollars to remove a large branch. My neighbor had some arborists come in and remove 4-5 trees and thin the branches of a couple of others in their yard.
That....was $3000.00. Quite a spectacle it was though with a guy wearing a cowboy hat on pulleys and ropes scrambling up and down all day long removing the tops of the trees first and then gradually cutting them down from the top first so as not to cause too much damage by felling such enormous trees down all at once.
Four to five other workers ground up all the wood and branches and leaves into sawdust and hauled the whole mess away in a large truck with little noticeable damage to the yard.
The tree climber's very pregnant wife was standing there for hours keeping and eye on him up in the treetops so I took out and offered her a lawn chair which she gratefully accepted.

The HOW Foundation would probably be your cheapest alternative. All pricing is negotiable, if you enjoy haggling.

It is usually fairly expensive. Here are some referrals from folks in my neighborhood:
  • Fermin Rojo (Bonded) - Does a good job and leaves the site clean (210) 279-9340
  • The Tree Guys - (210) 284-7672
  • L&J Tree Service - "Lorenzo" (210) 723-3179
  • Tree Wise Men - Jordy Hagen (210) 737-8733... rave reviews
  • Fritz - (210) 365-8370
  • I also have a personal contact, but he is not licensed/bonded. If the tree isn't "high-risk" (i.e. over your house or a power line), I'd use him... very reasonable. PM me for details

Good luck in your search.

-Wade

I really like Tree Wise Men (mentioned in post above). I've had Jordy work on my pecan trees for about 7 years now. He sure knows how to cut the tree without damaging anything. And I didn't find him expensive, but my experience might be limited. Best of luck to you!
