I toured the Tobin Center couple months ago, and now I am actually going to an event there. "The Price is Right" is coming for 3 shows. I invited my daughter, and I am treating because.......

in 1993 she and I went to California for 10 days. I ordered tickets to The Price is Right at the CBS Television Center and received them prior to our trip. I was so excited at the thought of going until........

I read the rules and you had to be 16 years or older to even be in the audience, and she was 15! She could have passed for 16 except they checked ID! I wasn't going to leave her alone in the hotel, so I was not able to use my free tickets. I had her take a picture of the CBS Television Center as we drove past it on the freeway, and she did showing my hands on the steering wheel as we're passing it by.

So now, 22 years later, we have a new chance to maybe "Come On Down".

On a happier note, I had made reservations at "Spago's", the restaurant that all the stars ate at , that Wolfgang Puck owned. He happened to be there and I made sure he came to our table and talked with us. Gene Kelly supposedly had reservations for the same night, but I never saw him, or any other celebrity there that night.

Nice story. Is there a question here somewhere? Good luck.

Naw, she's just venting and I get it. My daughter is 14 and I wanted to take her to "The Price is Right," as well...

The Tobin Center is really nice. It gets pretty warm in there when there's a crowd, so dress accordingly. Also, plan on paying about $10 cash to park in one of the nearby lots, possibly more if it's a really big event. (We went to the symphony and paid $10 to park in a lot two blocks away.)

No, no question. I just wanted to talk about the Tobin Center and also mention about The Price is Right event there. I did do a search for "Tobin Center" to avoid a new topic if one was already started but one had not been started.

Anyone volunteer there? One could see the shows just by volunteering, although you have to pay for your own parking. I had thought about it but right now it doesn't fit in with my working schedule.

Thank you for the tip about parking, Hedgehog_Mom. What restaurant in the area would you suggest my daughter and I go to for breakfast/brunch?

Ocho at Hotel Havana is great and within walking distance of the Tobin Center.

Just an FYI, it's Spago. No 's.' Sort of like when people say 'King Williams,' which is also incorrect.

I second the recommendation of Ocho. It's fantastic, as is the downstairs bar at Havana.

Thank you for the recommendation. Regarding the apostrophe s ('s) in the restaurant name, heck, I was lucky to remember the name at all. LOL It was a spur of the moment comment, and I had to stop and think of the name. I do know it is King William without the s. I am very particular about names as well. I used to work for Comerica Bank in Michigan. I'd get totally annoyed when people pronounced it CoAmerica.........there are now branches of it here locally. Someone from church pronounced it the wrong way, and I corrected her about it (politely, of course).

Thank you for the link. I really did do a search using the box in the right corner. What came up was thread titles without the "keyword Tobin Center" in the title. I figured Tobin was mentioned in the thread somewhere but I wasn't about to scour many threads with lots of posts not pertaining to my desired topic.
