Ops, I meant Alamo Heights.

So, these cities have lower city taxes than San Antonio?

Some people get worked up over city taxes, but the percentage of property taxes that go to the city is often less than half of the percentage that goes to the local school district. There are also chunks that go to hospitals, community colleges, the county, the river authority and something called the "flood fund."

Huh? If they are incorporated you are still going to be paying city taxes. It's just that if you are in San Antonio you get your city services from San Antonio with all the benefits that come from that.

It sounds to me like the OP doesn't want to be in the City Of San Antonio now, or in the future, so he is looking at smaller suburban cities, and also thinking the taxes would be lower in those cities. The tax rate is often lower in those suburban cities than it is in San Antonio, by that can be offset by higher property values in those smaller communities. So you may save little, nothing, or actually pay more than you would, for a comparable property inside the City Of San Antonio.

And yes, Helotes is incorporated.

As was posted by GED, for the most part the being located in one of the smaller cities will cause your property appraisal to be higher than a comparable property in San Antonio. If city tax is such a worry then I would check out Windcrest, they are claiming to eliminate their city property tax next year or 2017.

It's not about saving. It's about spending wisely . I'm just going to throw a number out. If you have two identical homes and lots in two different areas with one area being 4k higher in taxes .by going to other area , you can get larger house or lot for same money. That's the point

How? Either I'm an idiot or the people I've spoken to about living in San Antonio are the idiots . when I compare property taxes for same value home , different areas had property taxes that were 4k higher
