Has anyone else seen a pretty dramatic increase in their electric bill? I'm not home that often during the week, yet my most recent bill was $30 higher than it's ever been. I don't run the heat during the day, I unplug most of all my appliances when not in use to conserve, and I use energy efficient light bulbs. What gives?!

Actually, I was pleasantly surprised to see my last bill was only 65 dollars. I have an all-electric house. I'm very cold natured. Most days when I'm home and it's cold, I have the thermostat on 75 and I have at least one space heater going when I'm awake. Sometimes when I'm feeling extra cold, I have my thermostat on 80.
My computer is on most of the time and I play the TV a lot.

Have you compared the reading on your bill to the actual reading on your meter? Maybe someone made a mistake.

It happens.

Good luck!

No I guess I should do that considering this is the first time it has happened. I just know it's usually about $75-$85. This is actually the first time in years I have gone over $100, which is a lot for me.

I use that program where they take your last 12 months and divide it by 12 for a uniform monthly bill. It makes the winters much more expensive, but he summers much cheaper and knowing exactly what my bill is going to be makes budgeting a lot easier. I'd highly recommend that.
As far as the actual bill, mine has been below average for the last few months. This is mostly ideal weather for me, so I don't turn on heat or a/c at all. A programmable thermostat makes life easier too and it's a do it yourself easy project.

The January statement has 33 days in it's billing cycle. That's probably why it's a bigger bill.

I wish I could say I have less then $100 utility bills! But for mine to stay under $200 is nice. I normally pay $150 each month and thats where it has been at!
