Also, a significant portion of the park is still under construction, so they may have scaled back (they didn't even do fireworks there for July 4 this past summer).

I think there's a common consensus on the fireworks. Since we live near there we've been seeing NYE and July 4th (and a few others..) fireworks celebrations for years. They had some different types of fireworks, but something was not quite right. Not sure what, something was just off about them (and shorter than usual). Still fabulous, esp. when watching from my cozy living room looking out the window, but I'd agree with you, as have many of my neighbors.

True about the weather, it was bit chilly yesterday night/this early morning. Perhaps the next time it will be up to par again! The location itself is quite good actually with the Towers of Americas as a backdrop, so there is potential. Next try in July I suppose!

You being able to see it from your living room window is of course very convenient and pretty nice. You must live above the Hyatt which must have awesome views all around.

Nope. In Southtown. I have a spectacular view of the Tower, as does just about everyone in Lavaca. But you can also see very well from the Alamodome East area, Dignowity Hill, and even Government Hill though that depends a bit on the cloud cover.
