My family and I will be moving from Seattle Washington to San Antonio Texas in a few months and we are receiving very mixed opinions about where to live.

We plan on purchasing a house in the Bridgewood subdivision, but have heard very good and very bad things about this area. We also have looked at a very nice home in the Silver Oaks subdivision and have also heard very good and very bad things about this area.

The home prices vary from 160K to 190K in both areas, so I'm sure that has an effect on the overall characteristics of the community...(Renters vs. Buyers).

If anyone has any information on these two areas, or if anyone could provide information on an area with high home ownership rates, great schools/amenities, and an average home price of around 195k, please let us know.

Thanks!

Have you searched the forum for those neighborhoods? I know there are a few threads about each.

Honestly, getting with a Realtor and letting him/her know your specific desires, needs, wants is the BEST way to go. They will help direct you knowing what YOUR particular needs are. We worked with one from Japan (and that is not easy before internet/email connections!) that helped us find the PERFECT place based on OUR personal needs.

I know it is not easy to move, and wish you the best in your search for the perfect place to be here in SA! If you need/want a referral for a GREAT Realtor, let me know. He has helped our family with several transactions and all were wonderful!

Second the Realtor suggestion...if you are planning on buying especially...

Why not try to rent for a while first?
