Going with another female friend and staying in an airbnb in the new revitalized area near Pearl Brewery (on Baltimore street) Is it safe to walk from there to the riverwalk or would you drive and pay to park? Speaking of parking are any hotels free to park at with in 2 miles of the Riverwalk or all valet? I think the walk is maybe 10 minutes to walk to Riverwalk but don't know that area. Reviews of the airbnb are excellent due to location and nearby sights and we do have a car to use but would prefer to walk if safe? Any feedback appreciated!

I'm sure walking would be fine unless it's like 3am or something. If you're worried, just Uber. Would be a heck of a lot easier than driving and paying to park.

I would recommend heading over to the riverwalk if you're headed to Pearl or downtown. It will add a little distance versus doing it on street level, but I'm thinking you'd feel safer. I don't recall there being a lot of folks out and about after business hours in Madison Park neighborhood.

If you're at Baltimore and San Pedro/McCullough area, there is an entrance to the riverwalk right there at St. Mary's and McCullough. It's about a mile walk to get to the Pearl/La Gloria from there. If scooters are an option you might be able to scooter over to the pearl from that area, but I don't recall there being any protected lanes in that area (I'm not a scooter fan myself). Unless you want a major walk I wouldn't recommend it. When I worked in the area (Baltimore and Augusta) I would run a four-mile route in that area and it felt long at times. I last did that run in 2014, so my info may be very outdated. There were always a few people out and about, but it was never super crowded during the post-work time and during the weekend, the further you get downtown, the more walkers/runners you might see. (That's like a two-mile walk to the circle area where the boat taxis and tours start).

I walk from the Pearl to downtown all the time. Riverwalk or just taking the streets. You can bird too. Definitely safe.

As for free parking, there is parking all around Elsewhere and Social Spot which is free. It is between the Pearl and downtown, right near the Pearl.

During daylight hours I would have no hesitancy to walk from your place on Baltimore to the Pearl. I would not do it after dark. Take an Uber.

I can't imagine that area being dangerous at all, even at night. Personally I would be ok with walking at any time of the day or night.
