I'm going to be entertaining some extended family at the end of the month for a couple of days. The guy is a real record (vinyl or CD) hound. I'm trying to see if folks have a favorite for someone who is a real music buff. Some place which has things that you don't see every day.

I buy a lot of water damaged records from houses that were flooded in the recent rains. The covers are ruined but the albums are ok if you clean them up a bit. You can get boxes of them really cheap.

Visit the Roy Maas' Youth Alternatives store on 3103 West Ave.
They used to have a great selection of gently used vinyl records there. I have purchased many of my records at that store. Some of them pretty rare.

Hogwild Records on Main Ave, near SAC. It's not huge. Don't be put off if you walk in and most there are dressed in black t-shirt and jeans, and sport prominent body piercings and tattoos.

Any record/CD store aficionado will probably be impressed by Waterloo Records in Austin.

Urban Outfitters has been selling vinyl for awhile now. I haven't been there in awhile as I am not a huge fan of UO anymore but I saw some there last time if your friend doesn't mind repro vinyl that is new.

There is a garage sale going on today, 10/9, on Clubhill Dr and they are selling vinyl records for $1. Sorry, I did not get the address but it's not a very long street.
