Hi guys,

So, I just bought a 2017 Jeep Patriot Sport without a/c. I am trying to find a mechanic or shop that installs a/c, don't want to go to dealers.

Thank you very much for any information.

Call Vintage Air in Braken, Tx. They do aftermarket AC systems for street rods,..but have Hook-ups to other Domestic vehicles. They don't do installs, that's when you need to call Carlisle Auto Air on San Pedro Ave to do the install...they might also be able to order you a system.

I'll just be the one to say it, why would you buy a vehicle without a/c?

According to an Automobile Newsletter published in 2010, more than 99% of all new vehicles sold in the U.S. were equipped with factory A/C. Only a few low-end new vehicles are available without A/C as standard equipment. And in a region like south Texas, it can be next to impossible to even find one of those low-end new vehicles without A/C in a dealer's inventory, with the possible exception of the "one-only" promotional-priced stripped vehicles you sometimes see advertised in the newspaper at a rock-bottom price.

Due to very limited local demand for installation of vehicle A/C, I doubt there are many (no?) shops that specialize in such a service, other than the new car dealer. Even then, I doubt the dealer has done many A/C installs, given the proliferation of new vehicles that have come factory equipped for the last several years. The aftermarket units installed by an independent shop certainly aren't going to be covered by the vehicle manufacturer's warranty, and the dealer installed unit might not either, if it wasn't installed at the time of sale. An aftermarket A/C is going to cost more to install than a factory installed, and it will probably be less reliable, also.

No suggestion for a shop, but I do know it would have cost FAR less to buy a new car with A/C then to add it later.

Thank you all for the info, and to answer the question why I have never asked about a/c because it was a great deal.
I already call some shops and price would be up to 5k, so even with this price the car is cheaper than the asking price of all dealers and private sellers.
