Looks like getting Austin City Limits in SA is still an issue. I checked DISH Network and TWC and did not find the episode that is on in Austin this weekend. Actually, DISH did not have ACL listed at all.

If you check KLRN's website, it appears that they have their big fund raiser tv auction going on this weekend. Runs until about 2am, so I'm sure that is what is preempting Austin City Limits. So for everyone who has complaints watch the auction and buy buy buy.....

Have you ever watched Discovery HD? We love their nature programs, and the picture is amazing (life-like).

Oh yes...I spend a lot of time on the HD channels. Thank goodness for offline storage. I have 1 terabyte of programs I have saved. LOL

As a former financial supporter of KLRN, I got a solicitation in the mail today from the station encouraging me to to re-up. They say they've seen a substantial drop-off in membership over the last several years. Included in the mailout were programming highlights for the month of March, but all of the program dates/times have since passed.

Mailing out an expired programming guide with a solicitation for financial support doesn't do anything to entice me rejoin.

Well...here's the schedule for you.

KLRN Weekly Schedule

And even though this is a very old thread, to the OP, your fav show "Nature" comes on Sunday nights at 7pm. However this week is the fundraiser wrap up, so you'll have to wait a week to see your show. I have to agree that it's a good one, but not the only program that is watch worthy in SA.

I also noticed a diss from the OP about 80 something's liking "Are you being served". Whatever. We're not even close to 80 and have watched that show for years. What is this? A suggestion of what's hip or not on PBS?? All of the shows of that genre are classic dry British humour....dont cha know? Well balanced programming for all interests is a good thing. I'm not personally into the toddler-something programs, but I certainly see their value.

KLRN gets my support. Maybe if they HAD more supporters it might IMPROVE....not the other way around.

BTW - you can also gather your colleagues from work and man the phones during a fund drive. Getting up close and personal with the station management also helps get your voice across in a big way. Hopefully the OP is over her "pet peeve".

Thanks for the link, but the programs delineated in the flyer that was mailed out have finished screening and are not part of the regular weekly schedule.

I think sending this material out prior to the scheduled airing of the programs rather than after would be a better marketing strategy.

Every now and then I watch PBS to watch something different that is not the same media BS that gets pushed down our throat everyday (Britney, Octomom, etc)

I've been in San Antonio for about 6 months and I think I haven't watch PBS one time since I've been here. So I guess their programming is pretty crappy.

Here's KETC 9, the PBS station I used to watch in St. Louis (if you want to compare)

This usually requires a corporate sponsorship. In-studio time is considered a sponsorship "perk"
