Another update to my update On J. Anthony's Seafood Cafe. They've painted the outside of the building and now have a banner out front front that says "Opening Soon - Help Wanted"

Their menu looks rather ordinary to me, but I'll give them a try. It is true that good bread/roll can make a difference.

If anyone is ever in the vicinity of a Publix grocery store (although we have none in S.A.), they make an awesome sub in their deli. They bake their own rolls, use Boar's Head meats (if you want) and they use a special sub sauce (I forget the brand, but you can buy bottles of it there). I'm talkin' a dynamite sub. Can I get a witness?

For me, the center of the appeal to Jimmy John's is the bread and the combination of the ingredients. I usually pick up a couple of Day Old breads while I'm there to take home and freeze or eat the next day.

Also, its food is a nearly exact copy of a sub place I used to frequent when I lived in the Midwest, because the owner of this chain is related to the owner of the other place and the chains share family recipes. The simplicity appeals to me more than the national chains like Quizno's and Schlotszky's.

Quick question about place by Blanco and 1604:

Is there a bagel/coffee bakery shop in the Vineyard Strip Center at Blanco and 1604? It looks like it would be an Einstein Bros (but its not ) shop from afar? Near the Aldinos restaurant, Can't recall the name..

Also, has anyone tried the NY Style deli subs from the bagel place behind Lubys at 1604 and Blanco? I 've bought bagels but havent had any hot sands from there? Owners were very nice and helpful.

Thats it, Thanks

I believe you're talking about Eipstein's Bagels--they had really good burgers, but they closed down.

There is a thread that contains info about the new place behind Luby's. Let me go grab it.....

China Stix on Bulverde and Evan's Road is now open!

Went in and grabbed a menu, looks like basic Chinese food. Hope it's good, we've been wanting a Chinese restaurant closer to home.

We pass through that intersection a lot when heading over to the Nacadoches/1604 area. Since our youngest daughter she is no longer free at buffets (*tear* lol) so we are thinking pseudo family style will be to go. There is not a lot north of 1604 on 281. BJ's should be open soon, but the girls are not that crazy about "bar" food...though their root beer they brew themselves is pretty good.

Driving home this evening from dinner, the parking lot of Mulligans on 281 before Evans was PACKED! And its rare there are more then a dozen cars in the parking lot. But, I noticed there was a new establishment that was going in that appears to be open now. It has a star as its logo and it has a marquee which appeared to have names and dates on it. Of course, I did my looking as we driving at full speed, so I could not catch the name of the place or what it is. Unfortunately, our kids were tired AND cranky so we needed to get them home. Anybody have any clue what this may be?

Well, there's a crucial game on tonight, so it could be Aunt Bessie's knitting club but if she's got a big screen and some brewskies, there's gonna be a crowd.
