I'm sorry to hear about your bad experience. Yuck! Give it one more try, just for the tea. The tea is awesome.

Captain Ben's Seafood Shack
1050 S. Seguin Ave
New Braunfels, TX 78130
830-214-0076

Sun-Thurs 10:30 a.m. - 10:00 p.m.
Fri-Sat 10:30 a.m. - 11:00 p.m.

Understand they have one in San Antonio, too, over by Brooks CityBase....all I can say is "WOW!!!"

We went this evening, pulled in just to check 'em out...GREAT food! Started with the fondue, wife had the fried catfish, I had the crawfish etouffee. I travel to Louisiana quite often, and can promise you I can't remember having eaten any better etouffee anywhere in Louisiana. Wife is a pretty picky eater, and she LOVED her catfish!! She doesn't "do hot", so she passed her jalepeno hushpuppies over to me....son, they were EXCELLENT! Most of the time, there's a bare hint of jalepeno - not here! And ask for their "house" hot sauce - nice kick to it, but deep flavor to boot!!

We will go back, without a doubt!

And there's another location opening soon at 151/Potranco in the Legacy Hills shopping center development, along with Gold's Gym and McDonald's.

TexasRedneck, if yer dad was alive I'd have him beat you down like the dog you are. Went to Captain Bens this evening on yer recommendation. I had the Captains Platter and the missus had the Coconut Shrimp. The Captains Platter has 2 fish filets, 3 butterfly shrimp, 1 stuffed shrimp and fries. Don't know how many coconut shrimp come on an order but it's a plate full. We split a cole slaw. The cole slaw is close to the best I've had in a good while. The fish filets were pretty good size as were the shrimp. The stuffed shrimp was about the size of a baseball. The sweet tea rivals any in town. I HURT so good! And it's all yer fault! Can't wait until they open the one at Potranco Road.

I don't think it has been mentioned here yet - Bob's Steak and Chop House (the upscale chain out of Dallas) will open at the Rim. Somewhat odd location for a steakhouse of that caliber (near fast food and limited service hotels), but I'm sure it will do great considering the business that Perry's does at La Cantera.
