I rather see that than have to pay so much for gas to drive 10-20 miles to get anywhere. San Antonio is projected to have 2 million (city) and over 3 million (metro) in 15-20 years (2025).

They say as they drive their SUV to pick up there kids from school in suburban SA, then drive down 1604 to their suburban Target in some sprawled shopping center, then drive to their home in the suburbs of San Antonio.

You only have to drive 10-20 miles to get anywhere if you choose to live 10-20 miles from the places you have to go.

having skyscrapers downtown won't change people having to drive 20 miles from Stone Oak and Alamo Ranch to get to the skyscrapers.

Once the city estimates for 2007 come out, we'll almost certainly see New Braunfels designated as a second principle city of the metro, changing it from the San Antonio Metropolitan Statistical Area to the San Antonio-New Braunfels MSA, thanks to NB growing from 36k in 2000 to over 50k in mid-2007.

The county to keep an eye on will probably be Guadalupe, considering all of the growth that Schertz and Cibolo are experiencing, and the growth that Seguin stands to experience once SH130 starts dumping semis and I35-weary travelers in their backyard.

I'd also look for the metro-wide numbers to pick up even more once Ft. Sam's BRAC developments come on line.
