At the intersection of Locke Hill Selma and DeZavala, behind the CVS, is a road title Locke Hill Selma Road. Its an old dirt road that services a power plant area. I would assume its OLD locke hill selma road.

The reason I bring this up is i've been back there and the whole place is really creepy. I found on barbed wire fences, windmills, and other things that seem like old ranch items. The forest backs up to a quarry.

Does anyone know anything about this road, or the ranch that may have once been there?

I've lived in that area since the late 80s and it's always been empty over there. Those are probably just remnants of ranch stuff that never were moved when the land was sold to the city/developers way back when. There probably isn't much of a "story" behind it...just stuff.

All I know is that it's nice to have that little area on the other side of Shavano Creek not have homes/development when the rest of the area has blown up in the past 10 years.

I think Ashbeigh is correct. I've seen old maps where Lockehill-Selma Rd meanders almost all the way across the North side. It was obviously named after Lockehill (the community) and Selma and was the main country/county rd the connected those little towns decades ago before any freeways were laid out. It appears to meander between properties on this map, so it zig-zagged along property boundary lines.

If I have time, I'll see if I can find some names of old property owners along that road.

It still does. You can now take Locke Hill Selma all the way from 1604 to 410 near North Star mall. The only rough patch is Castle Hills with the never ending construction near Wurzbach/Northwest Military.

Ash..the map I'm referring to was from about 1930. It shows it going more East and West....and then picks up again North of the 410 area up toward Jones Maltsberger across over to Judson Rd....heading to Selma. It's really crazy. I even think there was a big gap in it and it picks up again somewhere.

Here's a map, go to the 'bird's eye view' to get a better look around. Doesn't look like much back there, but it does appear that it could have been the main road at some time...

I think I remember reading somewhere here that NW military (which we all know intersects with Locke Hill Selma) ran in to Jones Maltsberger and went all the way to Fort Sam. It's so crazy that all of those streets really connected the city...and that the military is so important to the city (since NW Military obviously connected Camp Bullis to the city since it was so far out).

Military Highway originally was built between Fort Sam Houston and Camp Bullis. The portion of Military Highway between Harry Wurzbach and NW Military is now part of Loop 410.

No disrespect here, but I think we've already said this....with historical documents to prove it.
