Why does it seem San Antonioians hate Houston so much?

When I lived in San Antonio years ago, it seemed Houston was regarded as the pit of Hell.
I have long since moved away, but my relatives still in the area and they tell me the bad blood is still there.

What did Houston ever do to ****-off San Antonio?

Some gripe about the traffic other than that nothing else. I like Houston always have, except for the Rockets I root for their sports teams!

I just can’t stand the weather and traffic there. Would never live there. I call it the armpit of Texas.

Oppressive humidity and oppressive LA like traffic.... and especially those damn Rockets. The rivalry between the Spurs and the Rockets goes much further back than that of the Spurs and Dallas Mavericks.

I have not been to Houston in over 20 years not even passing through, I really have no need or desire to go to that city except for maybe a Spurs away game.

I am curious how many San Antonion's visit Houston or Galveston just for fun...?

It's not really hatred of Houston, it's just that Houston's traffic is horrible and the weather is gross. I've lived there before but would never consider moving back.

Its almost of feeling of, "we like seeing San Antonio grow but please GOD don't ever let it become what Houston currently is". The same attitude exists here in SoCal with San Diegans towards LA.

Its a case of little brother hates on the big brother.

Haters live everywhere. Many also hate Austin, or California or Paris, or Canadian accent...

I like Houston more than San Antonio, but that doesn't mean that I would spread hate.

Nothing. As a matter of fact, I chose San Antonio over Houston but I love Houston. It was right after Katrina and i was afraid to be near the coast. SA is obviously is "sleepier", but I get to Austin and Houston as often as I can.

At least Houston has more of a "cosmopolitan" atmosphere. SA will always be considered the big city with the small town feel and most seem to be OK with that. And they have an NFL team and the SUPPORT that goes along with it.
