I am from Canada and am graduating from my Physical Therapist Assistant program at college this summer. I have been under the impression from the beginning of school that when I was finished I was able to get a visa and was going to move to SA. I have quite a lot of clinics and hospitals there that wanted to meet with me and were willing to help with the visa process.

I found out recently that there are no colleges in Canada that are accredited in the US. I have been trying to get in contact with credentialing agencies and immigration authorities and also that APTA and absolutely no one has any answers to give me. So since the people on here seem to know more about everything that the professionals don't...

My question is,
1. Even if the APTA (American Physical Therapist Association) doesn't accredit my program, can I still have my diploma credentialed? And is there even a point to paying to have it credentialed? I mean, if it passes and is considered equivalent to Texas physical therapist programs will I be able to get a visa regardless of the APTA not accrediting my Canadian school?

I was so excited about moving to SA and I'd hate to think that one reason can ruin it. I don't want to just be some bum living off the system and I definitely don't want to be an illegal immigrant. I want to contribute to the country and be part of it.

Does anyone have any suggestions?

Thanks so much!

You must take National board for PTA here in US and this is very possible for you to get it done. I am therapy director here in Chicago and will be more that happy to help you if you have any questions.

Do you already know what type of immigration status you're seeking?
