There was another thread where somebody called the removal number. They just painted over it with a beige box... pretty obvious what was there beforehand. I think they were going to get something to remove it the right way on their own but I didn't see how that came out.

With the recent tax election to fix up parks and what not, does anyone know if we will be getting a Graffiti Park here? Just as there are dog parks and skate parks other cities have seen a decrease in vandalism by allowing legal graffiti in specified places (Graffiti park)

And please before we start a big debate on whether graffiti is vandalism or art let me say that I am talking about the artistic kind of graffiti art that can take a couple of days if not longer to do and not scribble scrabble chicken scratch of unsightly tags.

Thank you.

AFAIK that was never mentioned as a possibility. It sounds like something that would be likely to face opposition from a significant chunk of the voting public, so I can imagine how the idea would have been kept thoroughly under wraps before the election, lest it torpedo the ballot issues.

Tell your city council rep you like the idea. Maybe they can get it worked in to one of the projects that will be funded with venue tax money?

Also if anyone has noticed taggers dont usually tag over big graffiti (art) peices. I think this city needs more public art, graffiti or otherwise. Unfortunately graffiti (tagging) is about fame. Since there is no income involved in tagging the goal is to get your name up in as many places as possible so that no matter where you go everyone will see your name.

Tagging is not art. Otherwise we wouldn't all spend time and money removing it from OUR stuff. If I wanted my stuff tagged, I'd do it myself and wouldn't sweat it. I don't want my stuff tagged. I buy my art at the store.

You are correct. Tagging is not art but there is such a thing as Graffiti Art. I hope people understand the difference.
