Can landlord in San Antonio increase rent from previous months that's already been paid?
There's not even notice at all...
Is this even legal?

Thanks in advance

we pay rent every beginning of month, so, for example, for june's rent, we pay at beginning of june. so, basically, the landlord is saying that the rent payments since may until august (which I already paid in the beginning of each month, including august's rent) were short $75/mo. and now, I owe them may - august $300 (4 months x $75/mo) plus late fees.
how is that possible?

Read the contract you signed or better yet, read it with a lawyer to find your answer.

Thanks for the reply.
I dont have any contract anymore, it's expired since dec last year. So, I've been renting month-to-month since jan this year until I'm moving into other property.

M2M is the worst situation for a tenant.

You have even less rights when things go wrong without a contract.

Find an attorney who understands Texas tenant law, or be prepared to move out sooner.

I don't think it's legal to increase rent retroactively. I'd consult a lawyer on this.
