Story headline from today's online Express News: Real estate agents on YouTube have called San Antonio the 'worst city in the U.S.'
The TL/DR amounts to a number of realtors posting YouTube videos highlighting reasons for looking elsewhere. The usual suspects (summer heat, property taxes, allergens, road construction, etc) seem to all make an appearance. For those inclined to look into what amounts to clickbait, an example is here:

I'm pretty sure the EN article is paywalled, but link here: https://www.expressnews.com/news/loc...SAEN_210Report

Without even watching the video. Property tax is a good enough reason to not move here. BCAD and/or the appraisers are greedy.

The Property Tax issue pretty much applies to the entire State of Texas.

If you watch the video he is basically telling you why you should move here while pointing out negative aspects. (He is a real estate agent)

Yeah, that was the message I got. He was actually downplaying some of the negatives attributed to San Antonio.

Here is a typical reason these YouTube Real Estate Agents say don’t move to San Antonio: “If you don’t like having an abundance of great restaurants, don’t move to San Antonio.” It’s all pretty much click bait.

While that is a common YT tactic that is not the case with this one, if you actually watch the video. He lists very valid concerns about the area. It's actually a good video and his reason for making was to temper expectations for prospective new residents according to an interview he did.

I lived there twice for eight years in total, and I'd never move back for a myriad of reasons even though my kids live there. It's a great place to visit, but a horrible place to live IMHO.

Let see, property taxes, because your biggest taxes are not so much city and county, but school tax, at least in Guadalupe county east of SA. Thanks for nothing Texas Legislators. Crime, you know the standards, homeless , though there are groups trying to address the issue, over priced housing because everyone has flipper mania when it comes to real estate so this drives housing up, and traffic which is horrible. I never go into San Antonio, unless I go to Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery to give my parents flowers for holidays and their birth days. Usually drive the surface streets. Even out in the Schertz-Cibolo area traffic on I 35 and Loop 1604 is horrendous. Have gone to Santikos Cibolo for a movie, and traffic on 35 going north is backed up ,a nd there is no accidents I know of.

Never lived in San Antonio, but I go there regularly. I tend to go via back roads, which have a lot less traffic/construction, so I get where I'm going in about the same amount of time (or less) than I would on the main roads.

All the usual stuff aside, the biggest negative is it's a huge, spread way out city. Takes a while to get from point A to point B, so you have to account for that when scheduling something. Still, there's a lot of open area, so you're not crammed into tiny spaces.

If I were to live there, I'd be looking at older neighborhoods, where there's space between houses, no HOAs, actual yards. I'm not a city person, but San Antonio seems to be a pretty nice place -- for a big honking city.
